Please, Please, Please, iron your clothes before you show them, Please!

I really enjoy and get excited about seeing the things that people are sewing these days.
I especially like to see newbies showing the progress that they are making on their sewing adventures. BUT damn it all to hell people, please, please, please iron your clothes before you post them for all the world to see on social media!

I know when you think about ironing you feel like this.....
or this
..but you should not post items that look like this
  Or this
 definitely not this
or this
...and I will smack you if you post something looking like this!
The mark of a good seamstress is ironing as you sew, it's a must, it just has to be done. It gives you a better look at what you're making. You may be looking at that shirt you made with contempt, throw some steam on that baby, look at it one more time  and you may see it in a different light, a nice new crisp light.
Say it with me, the iron is my friend and I will always use my friend!

Look at the lengths she is going to make sure her dress is wrinkle-free. It may have worked out better for her if she had did it prior to putting it on but I ain't mad at her!
Iron, people it does matter, happy sewing!

  1. Yes! You are so right! The same goes for backdrops used for photographing other items. And, when you make clothes, a big part of the making is pressing and ironing.

  2. Haha, Michelle, I'm a bit of a culprit here. I do iron as I go and give a final press, but then wear the item for the day before taking photos meaning that I often look a mess. But, good point!!

    1. I'm glad you see my point but you can tell the difference between an item that has never been pressed and an item that was pressed but also worn, so I'll give ya a pass there. I'm gonna have look a little more closely now, just kidding, you're good!

  5. Hell yes! If you've taken all that time and effort to sew it, was ironing it before you put it on for a photo really too much to ask for! During construction, we all know that you should never or rarely sew over an unpressed seam.

    1. Exactly! Gurrrlll, I could go on and on about this but I think I got my point across. Shoot I'll press the heck out of my seams as I am sewing so I know before I show anything I gotta make sure it's pressed. I don't care if it's only on a hanger or on my model. Thank you sooo much for stopping by and I hope to hear from you again!

    1. Can I get a amen Robin? I got tired so I had to say something, not only that it really does make the difference. If you are new to sewing, you may be more impressed with your work if you press your completed project, I'm just sayin'
