Ahhh lemons! I looked high and low last summer for a lemon print fabric with a black background. My online search was grueling to say the least. I did find a print that I thought I could live with but I never cut it up and it still lives in my stash. About two months ago when I was at my local Joann's fabrics and they put out their new Gertie fabric collection, I almost screamed when I saw this lemon print with the black background! I scooped up all the 8 yards that they had and I went to another store and got another 4 yards...why?? you ask....well, you know, just in case I needed 12 yards of lemon print fabric. Duh!
Now the first thing I cut was this simple gathered skirt to go with this super cool Lemon shaped clutch I made fro my first post on Weallsew.com for BERNINA. This clutch is a must for this summer and the tutorial is right HERE for ya! Super easy and super fun, grab a friend and make a clutch!
I used Simplicity 1464...wiiitttthhhhh a little modification. Instead of the pleats I gathered the skirt and although the pattern does have color blocking , I modified the size of my blocking as well. This is a great pattern and it is beginner friendly not much to it. So I took a few pictures of this lovely lemon skirt and I didn't know if I wanted a button up shirt or a t-shirt SOOOooooo I did both. I changed up the shoes for each look. I like both and I think both can work so I say if you're ever in doubt, wear a t-shirt under the button up and you will have all your bases covered! Ha!

I know the peeps my age remember these photo-booths from when we were kids. I bet ya'll didn't know that these photo-booths of today those strips of pictures cost $5.00!!!

I LOVE IT Michelle! Girllllll I've been waiting to see what you would make with that fabric since you shared your purchase on facebook! I knew you would kill it and just as I thought YOU DID! Great job!
