I was greeted by Lisa, met up with Julie and I got to meet Chris who handles all my invoices. I feel like Chris is one of my best friends at this point and I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to get her for Christmas. That should tell you how much fabric she is always sending my way.
Fabricmart was excited about my visit and have given me a $25.00 Gift certificate to giveaway on my blog! All you have to do is leave a comment for this post and on July 31st I will randomly pick a winner for the gift certificate and announce it on the blog. Easy-Peazy! **warning, I am not responsible for the additional $$ that you will spend with this gift certificate!
[Mori was my camera lady for the day]
I keep looking at this lace online....I'm still on the fence about it.
It's this metallic stripped fabric below beautiful! I could see a pant suit for a special occasion in this but It wasn't on sale, this one will wait.
A little behind the scene action!
OK so I was so excited when I saw this black and white rose print right here! I saw a blazer that Mimi G Style did way back when with this print, I knew I had to get it! Can you say blazer?? I can. They only had a few yards on hand and I'm pretty sure it's not on the website.
This is fabric getting ready for cutting and shipping, do you see your order here??
I had my eye on this fabric below but forgot to buy some!
Fabric in hand and then we headed over to Five Guys for lunch!
Selfies outside of Fabricmart!
These are the fabrics that I brought home!
I bought 12 yards of this fringe, I got something In mind for this, should be interesting!
The fabric below was sold in panels that have these three images on it. I'm pretty sure it's upholstery fabric but I see a piece used for a jacket or a dress???
Don't forget to leave your comment below to enter the giveaway!
Going to fabric mart is on my list to visit this year its not that far from me. 90 percent of my fabric purchases are from fabric mart. I always find something different on there website that I cant find on joanns. The black and white floral fabric you purchase is gorgeous, cant wait to see what you do with the fringe.
ReplyDeleteI haven't sewn in a bit, grad school has taken over the extra money but I follow your blog and LOVE the creativity. I am a "comfortable first" for fashion. Loving jackets, I see that purple fabric as well as the orange, black and cream as jackets. Keep up the awesome work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Cheryl!
DeleteOoohhh! Girl, I would have lost my mind! I deffinitely have my eye on that pink and black! I can't wait to go back home so that I can go there!

ReplyDeleteI'm loving the bold multi-striped printed fabric. So gorgeous! That fabric would make an awesome skirt or a pair of cute harem pants.
ReplyDeleteYeah that was nice, I have too many sheer fabrics that's why I did not get that one.
DeleteWhat a fun road trip!! Beautiful fabrics!! I hope you grabbed that black lace, it is GORGEOUS!!!

DeleteOh my! There is a store? I'm contemplating a move to the east coast and this moves me slightly closer to moving. Thanks for this post. Super excited for the next trip to the area.
ReplyDeleteI can easily see taking home that much yardage, but it would blow my budget for the year. Pretty dangerous territory.
ReplyDeleteAgreed it was a dangerous situation in deed!
DeleteFun to see the behind-the-scenes! So many beautiful fabrics! And you are your daughter are freaking adorable with the selfies ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like that metalic stripe too but am in love with that tribal? stripe you were showing off. Beautiful! Looks like you had fun. Love fabric shops like that.
ReplyDeleteI agree there aren't too many around. I am going to get that fabric though!
DeleteFirst don't enter me in the drawing! Someone else should experience the wonderfulness of la Fabric Mart! I've been to Fabric Mart like 3 times in the last 10-12 years. I'm always thrilled when I make the trip and end up with so much fabric. It really is like journeying to Fabric Heaven. So glad that you had a wonderful time! It's amazing how much fabric they ship out of that store right?! You expect it to be so much bigger! I'm sure you've got some amazing ideas for what you bought. Finally it was great to see you! Looking good lady!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carolyn! I had a great time and There were fabrics that are on my list when they go on sale. I had fun and looky I even made an appearance on the blog and everything!
DeleteI shop on their site all of the time! I saw that lace fabric and some others from your photos as well. The site does not do their fabrics as much justice as you have! I will definitely say that I am going on their site next so as to buy that lace...lol Thanks for sharing because I love them! BTW, Chris is the name I am familiar with as well. I would love to have been in your shoes! Amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your fabric haul with us. I have recently purchased fabric from Fabric Mart and am pleased with every piece. Would love to purchase more with the $25.00 gift. Love your fabric selection.
ReplyDeleteFor the life of me i am not sure how i found your blog and at this point i don't care.... Lol
ReplyDeleteI love all your projects and even did a picture close to the one you did in your daughter's bathroom. That fabric store looked like a wonderland. I could have been there all day. I look forward to seeing what you make with all your new finds.
I'm glad you found me!! Stay tuned for more of me doing what I do!
DeleteChica. Gasp this place looks amazing! And I map quest is only 2hours from me. Please put me in the giveaway. You would have made something awesome with that lace. Can't wait to see your creations.
ReplyDeleteDid I hear "gift certificate? Please enter me in your contest.
ReplyDeleteDone!
DeleteI would love to win that gift certificate!
DeleteThat looks like the best day ever! All that fabric!!! How did you choose?!
ReplyDeleteFantastic giveaway. We don't have a Fabricmart out here in WA. I wish we did!
It was the beastest day ever and The fabrics that I left in the store will be purchased when they have a sale.
DeleteI wish I lived near one of those. I didn't even have a Hancock's near me. In don't get bargins like that. Love all of your selections.
ReplyDeleteDID YOU SAY GIFT CARD TO BUY FABRIC I NEED IT! I love watching your road trip to
ReplyDeletefabric Mart, I am a fabric addict
Wow. I've ordered from Fabric Mart before. Online you don't see all of their selection. On my to do list is visiting Fabric Mart inperson. Thanks for all the pictures.
ReplyDeleteHey Jo, being there in person was awesome because they have lots of fabrics that are not online! And that $1.00 fabric was off the hook!
DeleteI love fabricmart and have ordered plenty of fabric from them. Michelle you and Mori rock! Can't wait to see what you do with that fringe.......
ReplyDeleteWish I lived close enough to make my own in store visit. Guess I'll have to settle for on-line shopping.
ReplyDeleteGreat haul! The fabrics are beautiful. Can't wait to see what you make with them. Fabric Martin here I come! Lol
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! I'm so jellie right now. I would love to visit the store. I liked that red print with the circles. You didn't buy it. Do you remember what that was? If it's on the website I'd love to get some.
ReplyDeleteNo I didn't take that much interest because it was a sheer fabric. I have a bunch of sheer fabrics in my stash
DeleteThis is awesome. I live in a small town so we have the basics like Joann's, Hobby Lobby and Walmart. It would be exciting to go to another fabric store. Might have the opportunity to stop in another town when we head to MD this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove your fabric choices!!! I can't wait to see what you create.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what these beautiful fabrics are turned into!
ReplyDeleteLove to see someone else buying fabric like I do! Never heard of fabric mart.... Must check them out!
ReplyDeleteTracey where have you been???? Although you will spend all your money, you have to experience one of their sales!!
DeleteI love that black and white Rose pattern. I see a skater dress!
ReplyDeleteNo way Renee that has blazer written all over it. There wasn't enough for a skater dress.
DeleteI want to win, and I have the perfect hiding spot for the fabric I will buy!
ReplyDeleteThat's something I would say! lol!!
DeleteOh what fun you had! I love Fabric Mart as they always have such nice fabric and they are super nice, plus I love their sales. Thanks so much for holding a contest. And I also want to add that it is wonderful that you sew for your daughter--I was blessed to have both a grandmother and a mom who made me clothes and got me started sewing too. My grandmother in particular was amazing and could copy things she saw in the store window just by draping them on a dress form! Have a great week! Susan V.
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Stars! Looks like a place I used to go to in the Dallas warehouse district when my sis lived there years ago. What a fun road trip that would be :) Juls in FL, mathrun1 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteI feel like I've already been there with seeing your fabulous photos! I admire your taste in fabric and don't think I could walk by anything you chose. I sure hope there's a "guy" store nearby so my husband could drop me off and I could shop w/o worrying about him watching the clock in the car!
ReplyDeleteLeave him at home and grab a girlfriend for the trip!
DeleteI love that yellow and gray floral piece! FabricMart is my go to online fabric store especially for their sales. I'm still a beginner so it gives me a chance to branch out trying new fabrics without a heavy investment.
ReplyDeleteI am 66 yrs old and really love the things that you make. The 60's retro were my favorite. I was wondering where you got some of the fabric you use. I live in MS and wish I could get to Fabric Mart. I order all my fabric and notions on line now as it is hard for me to get to a real store due to medical issues. Please add me on to your giveaway. I would Love to win a gift certificate to be able to get fabric from them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the virtual shopping tour. I got lost in all that fabric and you have some great pics. Thanks for sharing Sis. Now pick me cuz I need that certificate.
ReplyDeleteDid you end up buying that amazing floral cotton (the one with all the reds and blues, 15th photo)? I made the Marci Tilton V9112 out of it and hands down it gets the most compliments from strangers. That fabric is just so undeniably cheerful! Looking forward to seeing your haul.
ReplyDeleteOk...first of all...imma need you to go and get that black lace!!!! Why did you leave it??? Secondly, i can't wait to see what you do with the fringe..that's going to be fun. Next, I just bought that green and white...waiting for it to arrive. Finally, you and Mori are too dang cute and I love all of your selections!!!
ReplyDeleteRuqayyah (ReDpants Designs)
Thanks Ruqayyah, I know ya'll getting on me about that black lace! The fringe will be fun!
DeleteI wish that we had a Fabric Mart in SC. This is my type of store. I love the selections that you made.
ReplyDeleteOk, first off, can I just say I love your eye. Your fabric choices are awesome, and I can't wait to see what you do with the fringe! Secondly, check out that fancy folding machine -- makes me wonder if I could rig up something like that to help me fold fabric (and sheets!). Finally, I LOVE the dress you're wearing. Did you make that? What pattern? I want to make one!
ReplyDeleteHey Rachel nope I did not make he dress, it's from Old Navy. I'd pay money to be able to fold my fitted sheets with that! lol!!
DeleteDuring the 30+ years that I made clothing, I purchased from Fabric Mart quite a bit. I still have many of the buttons I purchased from the. Seeing the many new fashions being made, I am leaning towards clothes sewing again. I love the fabrics you picked up.

Oops! I posted as Anonymous on July 25, 2016.
ReplyDelete95% of all my fabric comes from Fabricmart as there are no national fabric store chains in Hawaii. My hometown is a few hours away from their brick and mortar store and hopefully I can make the road trip there one day!
ReplyDeleteThe sounds like a plan Lindsay. Actually being able to touch the fabric is so wonderful!
DeleteOooo.... I love your fabric selections!
ReplyDeleteLoooove Fabricmart! I have to get up there soon for Fall fabric shopping! I am slowly building my stash and the majority is definitely from Fabricmart!
ReplyDeleteI love Fabric Mart. I have ordered quite a bit from them over the past years and if you have any questions about the fabric you see on-line just give them a call. I had never been able to visit the store because they are not usually open on the weekend (I work during the week), but one time this year they did open on a Saturday and I was thrilled. They have an incredible amount of fabric and the staff is very knowledgeable. I keep a close eye on their website for several reasons, but the most important are; 1.) to see what they have in stock and on sale 2.) to catch up on your blog posts, and 3.) if they are open on a Saturday again, I don't want to miss it!
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in the contest.
Thank you,
Diane Michalski
Thanks Diane! I'm right the with both your reasons to stay tuned to their web-site!
DeleteI absolutely love your style and how you put together fabric colors. Thanks for sharing you gift with me and the world. Please enter me into the contest.
ReplyDeleteLove me some FabricMart!
ReplyDeleteI love many of your prints. Please enter me in your drawing. Thank you
ReplyDeleteLooks like you and your friend had a blast! I would love to go there sometime!!!
ReplyDeleteStop showing me Fabric Mart when I don't have any money left lol. Seriously though they're the best :) I'm so jealous that you can go to the physical store and get around the shipping costs though...
ReplyDeleteI really look forward to your posts, you have an amazing sense of style and your daughter wears everything so well. Judge you for 46 yds of fabric? I wasn't even shocked...I admire your restraint!shoot, a blazer takes at least three, pants around three, etc so really it's only a few outfits, right? Thank you to both of you for offering the GC, it's very generous.
ReplyDeleteCorkpop. I like the way you think!
DeleteLooks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I wish I had a fabric Mart in my area. Can't wait to see what you make with your new fabric.
ReplyDeleteFabric heaven was right!!! I saw some great fabric in your pictures. That black lace is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had an amazing time! I have bought online from Fabricmart &
ReplyDeletenever realized they were in Reading. My boyfriends brother lives in the
Reading area so I must go the next time we visit! So much more fun than
shopping online(although I do plenty of that). Thanks for offering the gift
certificate to someone who is lucky enough to get it! Thanks,Debbie
Adding this to my list of stores to visit someday.
ReplyDeleteOnly 46 yards? Drop in the bucket, but this Wisconsinite is tempted by the Wisconsin fabric.
ReplyDeleteOMG that was so funny, it was all over the place.
DeleteOk, so I'm mad because I was at Fabric Mart on the same day!!! Would have loved to meet you and your daughter. Your blog and your work give me life!
ReplyDeleteGet the lace fabric n send me some. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI'm experiencing fabric envy right now.
ReplyDeleteFabricmartfabrics.com was my first try at buying fabric online and I've been hooked ever since! Their fabric sales are great and the daily email specials get me all the time :). So far after many orders I've always been more than pleased with the fabrics. I live in Hawaii and their shipping fees are reasonable and I've always received my orders quickly usually within a week! I've tried shopping at other online fabric stores but I always come back to place my order with FabricMartFabrics!
ReplyDeleteoh my. best post about a visit to a fabric store evah! love that lace.
ReplyDeleteI got the lace tonight!
DeleteI love the fabric you picked out. I have got so much inspiration from you. I have dragged out my sewing machine which I'm naming the black chick. This way I can talk to her like a person. ( like people do cars). You renewed my faith in I can do it. Go For it. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabric selection. I'm not sure I realized they had a brick and mortar...I order from them consistently!
ReplyDeleteOk I see some serious sewing about to happen. Thanks for the tour, I live too far away darn, WA state. Can I also say I love your heart glasses! Love, love your fabric picks. Happy sewing out of the heat!!
ReplyDeletesewfabrics at outlook.com
I would have lost my mind in there. Cant wait to see what you do with the fringe. Love your style.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you LOVE Fabric Mart almost as much as I do! I order online every 7-10 days and drive three hours one way to shop there once a month!
ReplyDeleteI love fabric mart, Glad you finally got to go.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have taken a few road trips to PA and stopped in at FabricMart. I expected it to be bigger, but man there is a lot crammed into that little space. Between my road trips and online shopping, most of my garment stash is from Fabric Mart. I love that black lace so much and also the black rose print you got for a blazer.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog this week and it lead me to the Fabric Mart site. So when the metallic goes on sale I will meet you there and I will buy the coffee.
ReplyDeleteI so want to visit fabric mart! I bet you had an absolute blast! :)
ReplyDeleteI want to go fabric shopping with you. Do you think you'll ever travel to the Carolinas?
ReplyDeleteOrdered a couple times online, but only visited once. Now I HAVE to get back there!!!! Thank you for the motivation!
ReplyDeletePlease tell me about the yellow with the gray flowers. Is it a border print? It looks swoon worthy.
ReplyDeleteLoved it! Your pics are amazing and so are you! Will definitely be following you from now on. Show us your blazer as soon as it's done - can't wait to see. Gotta run - saw some fabric in your pic I just gotta have! Thanks for the great posting - love that Fabric Mart!
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad you posted actual pix of the store! Every time I end up within 50 miles of Fabric Mart, it is on a day they are closed :( ...now that I know there is a Five Guys near there, I am pretty sure my hubby will be happier to go, lol.
ReplyDeleteYour pix are awesome!
Wowee! Fabulous fabric buying trip. Sooooo jealous.
ReplyDeleteHave been meaning to get there- now I'm definitely going! Thank you for giving me the shove I needed!
ReplyDeleteThat's serious fabric heaven! Love the stuff you bought - great haul. FabricMart is terrific - my go-time online fabric store. Thanks for sharing your fun time - I'm so jealous! ENJOY!!
ReplyDeleteAbout that black lace: get it! I have some, it's elegant and machine washable. I too am an abundant woman living in a hot climate - Tucson, AZ. I've been making burnout and lace tops to go over tanks and camis. Keep them simple like Butterick 5753 view D or Simplicity 8106. Put a contrasting cami under, and feel the breeze!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I've never driven up there! Now I'm going for sure. You should have bought the black lace. It is gorgeous, but then so is everything else you bought!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics you chose! I need to take a road trip there- it would only take about 4 hrs to get there from Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteGet the lace! it is beautiful
ReplyDeleteI absolutely ADORE everything "thatblackchic"!!! I aspire to be a seamstress like you and build the courage to blog about outfits for my little ones and I. You have such s beautiful aesthetic and I hope to be able to be as successful as you one day (when I learn to sew better).
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog from your Bernina Instagram takeover. I love your style!
ReplyDeleteI was recommended to view your blog from a post on Fabric Mart's Facebook page. Boy, am I GLAD I did!! I'm so inspired by your blog! I have a sewing machine and a mom who knows how to sew but won't teach me; honestly, I don't know where to begin. With one glance at your blog, I am ready to begin sewing my own original creations.
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful to have come across your Facebook page, and now your blog. So many designs, colours, accessories and outfits with so many different ways to put them together. I feel so ready to take on the world, one stitch at a time.
-Michelle B. in NYC
I am so jealous of your trip. I would love to see and touch all the fabric there. Thanks for sharing all of your pics.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about taking a trip up to Fabric Mart. A fabric store gift card would make for a nice little birthday treat!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to all!
Salivating over all those pictures you posted!! Saw you on patternreview and love your work!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous! Love the black lace and you have me really curious to see what you make from your shopping spree! S on beautiful and unique fabrics. Fun to see the shopping trip. Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your haul - can't wait to see what you create! I am a big fan of Fabric Mart.
ReplyDeleteWow Wheeeeeeeeeezie!!!!! #BlackLaceROCKS......yessuh
ReplyDeletelove the black and white rose fabric--you have some nice fabrics there. would like to take a trip to the store, too
ReplyDeleteI get the same adrenaline rush looking at your choices as I do when the web site has a new sale. I remember going to the store about 20 years ago--pre-online status--and having to be dragged out by my Mom. I think I sewed up the last of the fabrics from that trip about a year ago! Of course, I have bought a yard or two since then. I think I have a stash of @ 1000 yds., but I also have 6 grandchildren, 3 daughters-in-law and a sister! The stash evolves, so I have new things to look at every couple of days! I'm hoping to visit the store in late August--I need to decide how much I can spend, and then double it. Such a wonderful place with the hardgoods to drool over and the people to feel a kinship with. vicki hogan, sanford, nc
ReplyDeleteI love Fabric Mart and have shopped online for years. Loved watching over your shoulder as you shopped. So glad I don't live closer, I would be in serious trouble!!!
DeleteThe fabric looks so much more appealing on your blog than the online website!
ReplyDeleteJoann Zeisner
love buying from fabric mart, road trip to the store is def on my to do list!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous you live close enough to go in person!!!! Texas is a LONG drive. Love your fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteI'm another FabricMart fan. My heart is beating faster just looking at your pix of all that glorious fabric.I'm afraid, very afraid, of going to the store.....I would spend a fortune. And maybe never even use the fabric I buy, just look at it, touch it, enjoy the potential of sewing with it all as much as the actual sewing! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and enjoyed reading about your trip to Fabric Mart. If I lived only an hour away, I would be making that trip every month! Great fabric choices and especially like that black and white double sided print!
ReplyDeleteSome of my very best fabric scores have been from FabricMart! i want to go there myself, but my grandmother's advice rings in my head- "sew what you have before you buy so much more!" Hahah #thestashstruggle is real.
ReplyDeleteThat lace is all you!! It reminds me of an Ankara print...I vote yes. I've also been eyeing that metallic stripe fabric. They had it in another colorway but I always hesitate. Your pic sold it!!!
ReplyDeleteLucky you to get to the store in person. If I get to that metallic before you do, there might not be any left!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I am much more of a got to feel the fabric to know what I would do with it...so buying online makes me a tad nervous. So far, my experience with FabricMart has been excellent. My budget sadly is much smaller than my eye though! I love your choices and can't wait to see what you have done with them! So jealous you got to go there in person...I live too far away. I know what I would do with a gift certificate, buy some perfect silk to compliment a silk I was lucky to get while I was in Thailand four years ago... haven't cut into it yet. Congratulations on your haul!
ReplyDeleteI want to do a road trip so bad! It's an 8 hour haul but I may still do it. I love the fabrics you chose. I purchased 2 panels of the coral gray and black fabric you have in your haul for a fun skirt! You are so lucky to only live an hour away!
ReplyDeleteI hope you bought the lace...love it! Don't the colors make you happy! A little jealous you got to go...wish I was there too. Just 💖💞💘✨❤ this place and the people.
ReplyDeleteThis is at the top of my "day trip" list. I know I will be overwhelmed but I can't wait. Love your haul!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun!!! Laughing at the Wisconsin fabric with the city names - my first car was a well used 10 yr old 1976 Maverick with a dealership label from Ladysmith Wisconsin. Wouldn't buy that fabric, but OMG so many others, definitely. Love Fabric Mart!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that metallic stripped fabric! I am just getting back into sewing now that we are settling in after moving around for a while. I have about a million ideas! I]m so glad to have found your blog!
ReplyDeletebethelderton59 at gmail dot com
Thanks for all the photos of the goodies you left behind for the rest of us. :o) Love those silks! Wish I had something to make with them. Glad you relented and got the black. On my last trip to the store, while sitting in McDonalds "thinking about it" I wanted to go back and get those I wished I had bought....but the car was full. Now I know what to make with the ones I didn't buy...:o( Great people! Good service. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteLive your fabric selections. I can see the last selection (the Home Dec yellow panels) as a shift dress for spring. Maybe an Easter dress with a blazer! I have purchased many times from them online and have an in person visit on my bucket list--maybe this is the year!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I would definitely go a bit crazy in FM! I can't wait to make a trip there some day.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous - I am too far away to visit in person. I love your pictures - having a human in the picture for scale with the fabrics really helped understand how some of the prints look in person.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
What a great day that must of been! Love all your fabric choices & if I ever get back to visit PA I'm definitely going to stop by there- I order more from FabricMart than any other online store. Thanks for sharing & hope I win!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures made the fabrics look even more beautiful. Thank you for sharing these pics with us and it looks like you scored some amazing finds and buys. Can't wait to see what you make with everything. susanmo1234@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteWow! You scored a big haul on this trip. Ordering online is very convenient but there is absolutely nothing more enjoyable than walking into a fabric store. The colors, the textures, the ideas! My mind just explodes with imagination when I pick up a bolt of fabric.
ReplyDelete46 yards gives me serious fabric envy! Love the pretty gray dress in one of your pics. I have to follow your blog to see what you do with it all.
ReplyDeleteFabric mart has always been a favorite source of fabrics for me. I stopped at the store once before traveling to Philadelphia. Wish I was closer.
ReplyDeleteconsidering that, technically, 46 yards might have been 46 dollars, you did a wonderful job! thank you for posting so many pictures; it is a joy to see them!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a gorgeous fabric haul. I keep trying to map out a trip to the store. It's a couple hours drive for me so I need to save up for it first. Will cut the grocery budget for a couple of months and try to save the difference for a fabric road trip! The black and white fabric with roses would make a nice jacket. The yellow and gray flowers on the white background would make a great shopping bag or a home dec project - eco-friendly and all. Could use it to hold more fabric! I see a blouse out of another fabric --- I love their fabric. The quality is phenomenal. I just need to sew faster! :-)
ReplyDelete#Faint, going to fabric mart is a priority for me!! LOL I'm planning a family vacation around it and my hubby doesn't even mind, the kids on the other hand are not really excited! But I'm beyond thrilled!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteFabric-holic here.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get to store except I would be very afraid of how much I would buy!!! Just looking at all that fabric sends you into creative mode. Great service from the online store and have loved every piece of fabric they have sent to me. Love your blog on going to the store.
ReplyDeleteWhat FUN! Love Fabric Mart, order all the time & they never disappoint! What could be a better day than meandering through all those fabrics-heavenly!
ReplyDeleteYou bought some fabulous fabrics. I try and visit the FMF store every time I make a trip to a company facility in nearby Limerick, PA. If I lived as close as you do, my stash would be much bigger.
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of you for being so close to the store. I order all my fabric from fabricmart, and I would love to go to their store. It would be like heaven to see and touch all that gorgeous fabric. I agree with you: the staff are great. You selected some fantastic fabric. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteI'm unbearably jealous! In fact, I died with a green cast to my skin and this is my ghost writing this, LOL! I think I need to visit this store in person and maybe ship my purchases cargo home. I saw so many things I would love to touch or, even better, own. It must have been a blast!
ReplyDeleteI love Fabric Mart. Thanks for sharing the fabric pics.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your trip with us I enjoyed all the pictures. It gives me an idea for a vacation for me and the hubby he enjoys taking me to different places and supports my sewing. Also thanks for entrying me in the drawing.
ReplyDeleteWow. Looks like you had a good. Time and I am loving that yellow. Will look for it online.
ReplyDeleteI luv this blog hun! I never knew fabricmartfabrics had a store! They have beautiful and high quality fabrics. I've ordered from them online for several years and not once have I been disappointed. I have 5 pieces left, since before the Holidays last year, I've lost my 'mojo', my 'therapy' to sew. Not sure how to get it back. Life is very lonely when there's no one else it yet, I know God's got me, that's what is most important! I have seen that colorful mesh you held up many times but I havent ordered in a while, I thought it may have ran out. Living in a small town, closest nice fabric shop is 45 miles away. Plus, its so expensive its not worth it for me. Not having a car leaves me unable to go anyway. Since fabricmartfabrics has awesome as fabrics can get fabrics, no need to worry about travelling anyway! If you consider me for the gift card, thank you very much. God bless you and whoever does win the card. If you pray, dont forget me. ♥
ReplyDeleteGet off the fence and get the black lace. It's gorgeous and would make a splendid jacket. Your pictures made the fabric pop and I will probably get a couple that I never considered. You look like you had fun and thanks for the pictures.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the black lace I thought overlay on a church suit jacket (hat to match of course!) So glad I saw your blog...I was wondering what it would be like to peruse the store. 46 yards is quite the haul!!! I think the black and white rose was in one of the monthly mailers Julie sends out. Happy Sewing! lori.lewis07@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWow! Talk about sensory overload!!! I thought I was bad....they mentioned you left with 46 yards!!!! You have some amazing choices. Thanks for sharing your shopping adventure! I have ordered a few times and haven't been disappointed yet. Someday I hope to make a trip there. I just found your blog through Fabric Mart. Love your style!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pics of inside FabricMart Fabrics. I'm soooooooo envious and wish I lived closer so I could see and touch all the gorgeous fabrics! You and your friend are adorable and I can't wait to see what you make from all the new fabric!
ReplyDeleteHow fascinating. We are in Texas, but like to travel. Looks like a nice stopover. Better bring the van, though.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Great finds. Fabric shopping is the best.
ReplyDeleteI live too far away to do a day trip but it looks like so much fun! I have some amazing voile that I bought to make beach cover-ups for my upcoming honeymoon. It was a great purchase!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to browse through Fabric Mart remotely and drool over the gorgeous fabric there--I had NO idea it was as beautiful when I look though the site--definitely inspirational and looks like an ordering session soon!! (bajjmayerATaolDOTcom)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. I'd love to visit the store!
ReplyDeleteBuy the lace, girl! hee hee.... I didn't know FM had a physical store. Good thing I don't live too nearby or it would be even worse than it is now! I do almost all of my fabric shopping with FM and laughed out loud when I read that you have Chris on your Christmas list, that is exactly how I feel too. It's like she's sending me a present when I get the email notification from her! So exciting. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteOh,what a CANDY STORE!!!!!!!! you had to be in HEAVEN!!
ReplyDeletei order all the time from FABRIC MART.
I'm very envious of your trip. You bought some amazing fabrics!!!! I am sure you will be making some amazing items too!!! My friend and I are planning a road trip to Fabric Mart in the very near future.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the store wonderful? The website is great but there is something about seeing it all and being able to touch it! The staff are fabulous. I'm so glad you got to enjoy it in person.
ReplyDeleteHeh, I's spend more time looking at the vintage machines then the fabric. Probably a good thing I live so far away.
ReplyDeleteNice choice you have made. I have a couple of your choices myself.
Thank you for sharing your shopping spree! Someday I'll get to Fabric Mart in person.
ReplyDeleteAlso: Buy the black lace!
Oh my goodness!! I had no idea they had a brick and mortar store!!! I think I see a road trip in my future. :) Also, they have so much Wisconsin fabric because it is clearly the best state. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat choices on fabrics. They are gorgeous!
Wow, great post. You picked some beautiful pieces! I buy from FabricMart online all the time and was able to sneak a trip in last fall while visiting my sister in PA. OMG, so much fun, I've made some great things with really reasonably priced fabric I bought during that trip.
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in the drawing
Fabricmart has ruined me as other places (brick and mortar as well as online) don't offer the temptations they offer. Always looking for quality fabric at good prices. Love your selections.
ReplyDeleteWow you certainly got some beautiful fabric - no judgment on how much you bought because I know I'd to that same darn thing! $1 a yard fabric - STOP I'd be all over that. I love Fabric Mart great prices on beautiful fabric I order frequently. I'm going to have to plan that road trip soon - I'm just in NJ and it's a great way to spend a day off from work!
ReplyDeleteI loved your post. Would probably give my right eye teeth to go to the store in person, you are so lucky. I would love to win the gift certificate because I am on a tight budget but love to sew. Thank you for the entertaining post and the chance to win a gift certificate. Loriandlinwood@hotmail
ReplyDeleteLove love love Fabric Mart! That lace is everything! Wooo! Now I need to plan a trip to Penn to do some shopping!!!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Reading and loved going to Fabric Mart back in the day...long before they had a web site or web sites even existed! Hmmm...showing my age maybe.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to experience the store in person!
Wow! My heart was fluttering looking at all of those photos of fabric. I am so jealous. I would have such a hard time choosing which ones to bring home. I have ordered online from Fabric Mart with much success, but to walk through the doors would be a dream. You look like you thoroughly enjoyed yourself. Now on to sewing, right?
ReplyDeleteWe love fabric mart and hopefully someday will be able to visit the store. Can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeleteA friend turned me on to Fabric Mart years ago and I love it. I always find something fun and colorful....( has to be, I don't do dull.) Liked your fabric choices - I can see some beautiful pieces developing there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inside look, your picks are fab! I have been trying to get to the store for a few years now.. I don't drive and I even tried to map out a trip via public/greyhound transportation on one of the days they opened on a Saturday...but by the time I would have gotten there I would have had about 1 hour to shop before having to rush right back around.. One day!
ReplyDeleteLoved your purchases. There are some I would like to have. Fabric Mart is quite a distance from FL where I live. A road trip is a serious option. Thank you for this post.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I love this post! Actually I love all your posts but like the others I have wondered about what it's like in Fabric Mart's store. Your fabric looks great and you have a couple pieces I've had my eye on. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Plus I get to see your fantastic hair! I have hair envy! And no I'm not a crazy stalker. I just feel you should compliment a person on the things you like or admire about them. So your creations and hair are fabulous. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteMy husband always jokes that I have to touch every bolt in the store. What can I say I am jut a tactile kind a gal. Thanks for sharing your adventure and I LOVE your glasses. You ought to be in more of the photos! Can't wait to see what you do with all the nice fabrics you picked up.
ReplyDeleteWish I lived close enough to visit the store. New Mexico to PA would be an expensive shopping trip.
ReplyDeleteI love shopping at Fabric Mart. I live in the area so I stop in at times. Especially when they have the store open on a Saturday (rarely)! I make pin quilted ornaments in my craft business and I have gotten beautiful fabrics at such a discount there. www.gaildengler.com This is the first time I have read your blog, I am going to back track and see what else you have written. You seem to be such a vibrant happy person. I love sewing and fabrics, I think I am addicted! By the way, I LOVE those heart shaped glasses of yours!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see some of your purchases made up on the blog! I would love to visit the store some day - it's a little far from the Chicago suburbs- but it's on my wish list. Pat H in Willowbrook
ReplyDeleteFabric mart is my favorite place to shop. I want to visit one day.
ReplyDeleteNice haul~ I can't wait to see what you make with the red/gray/black border print.
