This month is the 2 year anniversary for the Community Blog, The Monthly Stitch! This is a blog where as a contributor you can post your made garments for the world to see. The monthly challenges can range for sewing a coat, a dress, using a particular fabric or an new-to-you pattern. It's a great time and also can challenge your skills as a sewist.
The August challenge was to make something that involved the number two. I thought why not 2 Bloggers making the same garment, that's 2 X 2 right? I reached out to Tasha another Monthly Stitch contributor and a fellow blogger over at TheTellTaleTasha.
Tasha made the trip to Philly so that we could photograph our makes together [isn't she awesome?] She is such a warm spirit and she's funny too. [Oh yeah and I now know which side is her most photogenic side, smile Tasha] We were able to chat a bit about blogging and what we do in real life. We ventured to South Street for the photographs and then we ended our evening with dinner at Ms. Tootsie's. We had a great time and great food! I wanted the ribs for dinner but there weren't done so I had the fried chicken rice with gravy and collard greens. Mori and Tasha both had fish. Our waitress Larese was A-W-E-S-O-M-E! If you're ever in Philly and want some soul food Holla at Ms. Tootsie!
[I don't think I told her but I found the Monthly Stitch by checking out her blog] I asked her if she wanted to get together for this challenge and make something. We decided to use McCall's M6124 [Shirt/Dress pattern with several options, we used view E] We also chose to use African Print fabrics for this challenge. I made the long sleeve version as a jacket without buttons to showcase the dashiki pattern in my fabric. Tasha used the collar on view A and made hers sleeveless.[Her dress does have the buttons down the front but she did wear it unbuttoned for the photographs]
Seriously amazing makes & I love that you got together to photograph them which surely is the best possible proof of the Monthly Stitch success as a community blog x
