Grand Opening of Gusa by Victoria ...A place where fashion meets Art!

I am so happy to introduce you to Victoria Kageni-Woodard Owner of "Gusa by Victoria" [Address: 252 West Philadelphia Street York Pa 17401  Phone:717-324-3725]. Let me start at the beginning. I met Victoria back in early 2015, we both were contestants in the Rippin' Ain't Easy sewing competition. This is where I first witnessed her skills as a designer and her technical sewing skills are amazing!

Selling her designs is nothing new to Victoria but selling them in her own retail space is a new adventure. Not only is she selling her designs she will also play hostess to artists by providing studio space and also offering them a place to showcase their art in her galleries. This past Friday Dec 9th was the grand opening of her space with ribbon cutting by The Ambassador of Kenya Robinson Njeru Githae.

Mori and I surprised Victoria with a visit to her grand opening! I already knew she was a gem and  I was happy to support this lady and wish her the best on this journey. We were able to meet a few of the artist at her grand opening. As always you know I had my camera on hand for this event so please enjoy the photos.
Here are some of the hand painted umbrellas and paintings below by Artist we met Ophelia Chambliss. She also created the retail sign for Gusa by Victoria.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Artist Terrell Maurice and saw some of his artwork.
Another artist on hand was Reagan Bitler of Godahavom Gourds.
 This is us!

  1. Great shots. A number of the paintings, and also all of the painted umbrellas, are original one of a kind pieces by me, Ophelia M. Chambliss. The umbrellas are fully functional for rain or shine. Victoria is a dear friend, and I am very happy to partner with her on her shop and gallery space. www.opheliachambliss.com

  6. A lovely gallery showing beautiful work! But as I read through the post, I kept wondering: Where is it?? I couldn't find an address for it on this page, and it took a bit of Googling to discover that it's in York, PA. (I was hoping it was in Philadelphia, because I visit there a couple of times a year.) Please publicize the location so interested people can make their way to it!

  7. Wow, what a lovely, art filled shop! So much talent there, indeed! Best of luck to Ms. Kageni and her talented artists. Very inspiring to see a store with such individual and hand-made pieces for sale. I love Ms. Chambliss' beautifully painted umbrellas, they would make you smile on the gloomiest of days! Thanks for sharing this with your followers.
