Isn't this fabric GORGEOUS? I fell in love with this fabric at my local shop who does not have this fabric online. Here is an option that would be beautiful for this project. Someone asked how or rather why did I choose this denim fabric for this outfit, because they would never have thought of using denim for this project. WELL let me say this, if you've been following me or if you know me. you know that I use whatever to make whatever. And if you are just now getting to know me, I'd like to tell you that I use whatever fabric for whatever clothing.......there are NO RULES ova here. I like what I like but don't get me wrong I've had a lot of failed projects because my fabric choice did not work out. But then there are sometimes that magic happens like here. So I'll try almost anything once.
This Silver Beauty is on its way home!
I LOVE this! Gorgeous. I confess I may have to look for this pattern myself!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy. Oh and Simplicity patterns will be on sale the 17th at Joann's!
DeleteGorgeous and so holidayish Michelle!
ReplyDeleteThanks Faye I agree this one is very festive.
DeleteUnusual fabric for a vintage set--but then again, that's what originality is all about. I have that pattern too--don't know why vintage styles run smaller.
ReplyDeleteSee you got it girl! The first time I used this pattern was for my daughter and she is a 7-8 so I cut a 10 and you should have seen us trying to get her in that shirt for the photos, it was hilarious!
DeleteI saw this on Instagram and couldn't believe how "WOW" this was! The fabric is really what makes this outfit sing and I love that you're willing to try anything with any fabric. Gorgeous and I hope your client likes it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carolyn, she loves it! She was already telling me what she wanted next and I hadn't even mailed this one yet. I think I am going to use a new blazer pattern and use this fabric.
DeleteThat is stunning!! Love how your use of different fabrics really brings out the beauty of the pattern! Your blog is feast for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteThanks and I am so glad your enjoying your time here on my blog. Stay tuned I got a few more surprises that are about to go down over here!
DeleteStunning! Love the fabric and agree with you about experimenting with fabric. You never know until you try...
ReplyDeleteThat;s exactly riggghhhht Donna, some of my best projects were from the unexpected! So I'mma keep on doing what I'm doing.
DeleteStunning!!! I swear Michell, I get so excited to see what you've created!!!! Gurl I learned the hard way by not sizing up on a Simplicity vintage pattern, but I squeezed into the top, just to get the photo, but I know next time to siizzzze up and you do know what I'm talk'n bout!!! Thanks for keep me inspired!!!!! I love that your garments are not the norm..Keep being you!
ReplyDeleteJennifer it was comical when trying to get the to small shirt on......So now we all know better and that ish will not happen again, EVA again!
DeleteI just love the dress and I feel the same way about materials, if I have a vision I make it work with whatever I am inspired to use. Truth be told on whatever I can afford...lol. Keep it up because it's working.

ReplyDeleteShe was sooooo happy with this outfit.
DeleteLove the neckline of this blouse! It does look tricky to sew but it looks great. Beautiful job! Also, I like your idea of putting your PR review on your blog. I'll have to start doing that on my blog. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah Chuleenan, I figured since I already had the review written why not use it again. That neckline is what sold this pattern!
DeleteYou have done it again! I would have never thought this fabric was denim. The dress is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! This is my style from sun up till sun down. You've done a fabulous job. The recipient of this gorgeous piece is going to scream when she opens it. Well done! Bravo! Kudos! And everything else!

ReplyDeleteYou know how this match came to be? I was sitting on my stool in my sewing room and I was putting that blouse pattern back in it's envelope. That denim fabric was on a bolt right in my eyesight and I thought...hmmmm
