The Connie Dress [Sew What? Series: Style Sew Me Patterns]

New Pattern Release! Eryn over at Style Sew Me reached out to see if I would review her new pattern and I was happy to help her out in her pattern making journey! So I chose the Connie Dress pattern.  Now as soon as I chose this dress I was like this will look really cute in one of my Ankara prints but then I remembered that I had these blue suede pumps and the perfect twill stretch that matched those bad boys. So there it was, I would use my solid twill fabric and the matching Blue pumps[those blue suede pumps tho, boy if I was younger!!!]

Now my dilemma was, since I was using this solid color what could I do to make this little blue dress more interesting? Ohh OOH I know, Piping in the seams of the top and I would go on to make a fabric belt to top off this look.

Pattern Sizing: 0-14
Per the measurements Mori would fit into a size 8-10 so me being the person who hates sewing a muslin, I was like I will cut a 12 and if I have to downsize there won't be any issues. Well there was no need to worry about sizing because the would have 8 fit her spot on. How do I know this if I cut out a 12 you ask? What had happened was it was too big and I took the top apart and cut out the 10 and that was a little big, that's how I found out. I will make her another one because she really likes the dress and I will use the 8. So I say all that to say this, there were no pattern sizing issues.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except the neckline that I changed

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, although I did not really need them for this dress.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love that there were only a few pieces. I'm not crazy about the skirt seam down the front but it's not a big issue when it's all said and done.

Fabric Used:Cotton stretch Twill

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I changed up the heart neckline and I added an exposed zipper that is the length of the dress. I was surprised that Eryn did not have pockets for the dress so I added my own.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes

Conclusion: Mori was loving this dress and wants me to consider using this pattern to make Brides maid dresses for her friends wedding. I will  most definitely made another dress. Make sure you check out her Connie & Camryn Patterns. Eryn also has a YouTube channel with loads of tutorials for her patterns and everything in between

This pattern was given to me in order to write this review.
This is my honest review of the Connie Pattern by Style Sew Me.
Looking forward to see what's up next!

  1. Michelle, you did a great job with the dress I love the fullness of the skirt and the color. But that BELT! OMGosh, the belt is really a nice addition. Love the styling too. This would make a really cute bridesmaid dress. Nice job lady! I'm sure Eryn is proud.
