Junk in the Trunk Tuesday! (I'm about to call this Texas Tuesday, they have junk for days)

215 Welch St. Houston, TX is the home of

Texas Junk Co.

Houston’s largest collection of used cowboy boots, and a great selection of random Texas junk.

The owner is Bob Novotney, a baby-boomer hippie kind of guy with long, gray hair and a soul patch on his chin.  He spends his weeks scouring his connections across Texas for the goods - nice used boots, denim jackets, cowboy hats and other miscellany that he can reload his shelves with.  And, because he is shopping during the week, the store is only open Fridays and Saturdays.  Bob says that over 30 years ago with just $50 to his name, he started the company selling various odds and ends, but he came to realize that the boots were a big draw for his customers.  As his selection of boots grew, so did his customer base. "I'll go just about anywhere to pick up some new stock.  I buy boots in any condition and I'll buy every pair I can find." - See more HERE

Faux Taxidermy& My adventures in creating my own master pieces: Let me formally introduce you to Lola & Lilly

This is that, it was so worth the trouble moment right here. You have been with me through all the deliveries, the broken heads and now you can share in this proud moment to show you the end results to all my madness. They are complete and ready to go on that navy wall.

My inspiration HERE $94.99 each & $111.00 Shipping
I needed Two heads for my wall.
Let's do the math that totals $300.98

The  heads I chose below HERE $53.46 each & free shipping
Two heads $113.33 Paint $10.84 plus a
priceless experience totals $124.17
This is Lola above on the left and Lilly on the right.
I wiped them down and the paint started coming of of Lola's ear, I was like WTF!
The only reason I did not throw a fit is because I was going to paint them.

First coat on Lola or Lilly I can't tell them apart anymore

Hath UPS no shame? They no longer provide customer service they just drop & roll!

I was in my office working from home yesterday and
I took a break to look outside and this is what I saw.

I just shook my head because in my driveway
to the right of these boxes is this.

Wouldn't two vehicles parked in the driveway give a clue that someone is probably home? They don't even care anymore!
It's a shame, knock on wood I have been lucky
thus far not to have any missing packages.

Dear Amazon, your shipping of fragile items SUCKS!

YOU GUESSED IT PEOPLE AND ALTHOUGH I KNOW YOUR TIRED OF ME AND MY ELEPHANT HEADS I CAN'T HELP BUT SHARE. YESTERDAY I GOT ONE OF THE REPLACEMENT HEADS AND DAMN IT TO HELL WHEN  I OPENED THAT BOX I SWEAR ONE OF THE TUSKS JUST FLOATED IN THE AIR.......OK SO NOT REALLY BUT IT WAS NOT WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE ELEPHANTS FACE. SO I CHECKED THE REST OF THE HEAD AND NO CRACKS OR HOLES SO I WHIPPED OUT MY GLUE AND THERE YOU GO ONE PERFECT ELEPHANT HEAD READY FOR PAINTING, AFTER IT DRIES. NO THANKS TO AMAZON THOUGH.

Mural anyone?

I am about to break out by brushes for a mural. My Sista Max wants me to paint a mural on her Teen  Laurin's room. She said she either wants some type of wave pattern or cheetah. Her base color is going to be purple to match the comforter prints below. This should be fun. I'm gonna be all over it once they get the room painted with the base color. She asked me if they had to paint the ceiling, I said hell yeah. I ain't putting my work on anything that's gonna be half ass. That's not how I roll.

Junk in the Trunk Tuesday!

Today's junk is by way of Texas, once again. I told Ya'll that Texas is the junk capital. We are visiting the Cathedral of Junk. The owner of this property is Vince “Junk King" Hannemann has been collecting other people’s junk in his backyard since 1989. Over the past several years, he has constructed a massive “Cathedral of Junk”, much to the amusement and fascination of locals. It has become a tourist attraction. In 2010 the city closed the structure claiming it was unsafe and demanded Hannemann obtain proper building permits for his “auxiliary structure”.  Last year the Cathedral was in danger of demolition and it got down to the wire. Luckily, Vince found the engineer, the lawyers, and architect and an army of volunteers moved 40 tons of junk out of the easement and he got his permit.

Shopping trip Sunday:A few little decor trinkets

I picked up some items like the vents, light switches and stuff like that. I am this close to making up my mind on the furniture and hope to place my order this week. Checked out some accessories and getting ready to order fabric for my curtains. Lot's to do, lots to do.

Toilets anyone?

This was the winner, see that price below.
Basic toilet for the powder room.

I am gonna try to talk my other half into replacing the sink in the powder room,
This is a inexpensive and nice little sink for downstairs. We shall see.

New vent covers, switches and sockets.

Pineapples anyone? This would be cute in my kitchen.

Coat hooks for the family room?

I love theses book ends but they were made of plastic and not real heavy at all.
I don't think they would hold anything up.

Ahhhh, I almost bought this one.

Thinking real hard on this piece for a side table. This lady was like that's a great price for
that piece but it will show too many fingerprints. I agreed and looked at her funny,
I wasn't sure but I think she was trying to get me away from it so she could buy it.
