DIY Burberry Inspired Monogrammed Poncho

MORI WEARING A DIY BURBERRY INSPIRED MONOGRAMMED PONCHO

This story starts out with a Poncho that was impressive from the moment I saw this in the Burberry Fashion show back in 2014. There were celebrity sightings all over the streets in this poncho. This is my DIY version of that exclusive monogrammed poncho, minus the not-so-budget friendly price-tag that goes along with the brand. Fall and winter fabrics are hitting the stores in full force right now and when I ran into this print at my local fabric store, I knew it would work well for this project. The fabric is a polyester, rayon blend and I used a wool felt for the lettering.

#Sewyourview: The Hickory Ensemble A Collaboration with Mood Fabrics

Hello Peeps! It's Michelle here and I had the amazing opportunity of hosting the #sewyoruview January sewing party on Instagram! The pattern of the month was the Hickory Ensemble by Mood. This is s 2 piece unisex pattern.

Here is Mori and her #thehickoryensemble. This is a little upgrade from her work for home pajamas and the pattern whipped up so easy. I'd say that's a winning combination.

The fabric I chose is so amazingly soft, you would never want to take this off.
Mellow Rose Bamboo Stretch French Terry/Product #: 320912
Helmut Lang Dusty Rose 1x1 Tubular Cotton Ribbed Knit/Product #: 420862

My idea for this hickory pants.

Not let me share what I did here.
-You saw the quilting on Instagram, that was a chore but worth it.

-Although I had the softest terry from @moodfabrics My fabric choice was not ideal for the look I was creating. I had a “Tim Gunn” make it work conversation with myself. The quilted pieces where too stiff compared to the soft terry fabric, so it did not lay the way I wanted it to in the bulky seams.

-I shortened the length to crop the top and the sleeves.

-I extended the top length for my cardi, cut the center front open, added a collar and fringe.

-I added ribbed cuffs to the pants instead of elastic.

-I’m going to change the waistband elastic to drawstring , like I wanted to do originally.

Thanks for sewing along and remember to post your pictures on Instagram and tag us: #sewyourview #syvsubmission
