DIY Hi-Jack: Poinsettia pillow by Pottery Barn

(Re-post. org posted on 12/29/13 worth viewing again!)
I have to say that I have seen this pillow all over the web. I thought that it was really cute and it didn't really look that hard to make. I think this is the pillow that everyone or almost everyone was inspired by.

I made pillows with my book club members for our Christmas party and this was one pillow that I wanted them to try. Time got away from us making the other pillows an we never had to the chance to make these. I told the ladies that I would make these pillows for them and here they are. I made six pillows.

Chevron on the Walls

Sunday, November 16, 2014

She signed on the dotted line and now she has rent to pay!

Mori signed the lease Saturday, she's such a big girl now! She got the keys and we spent the rest of the day going to Walmart and IKEA......yes we had to go pick up all the things she had on her list. Picture this, as we are shopping and  Mori is adding up everything that she picked out like the bed, dresser, bathroom things and such. She would say Mom look how much I'm spending and there was a lot of re-evaluating the items that she had chosen at this time. (I was cracking up on the inside because unbeknownst to her I was going to gift her all the bedroom furniture that she had chosen as her Christmas  gift.) So we get in line to purchase our items and then I had the lady ring up her bed, dining chairs, her full length mirror and bathroom items and as Mori pulled out her credit card I said I'm going to pay for it, she was like what? I said Merry Christmas and she was still standing there stunned as to say "what the hell is going on right here!" I smiled and said Merry Christmas again! I got a big thank you and a big hug. #pricelessgifttomyyounglady #hohohoitssantababy

I took picture of her inspecting the apartment and signing the lease.

A Day in IKEA with my daughter Mori

Well the day has come and my muse is leaving the nest. (Thank the lord this girl is finally leaving my house) Did I type that out loud? What I meant to say was this is a well deserved accomplishment for my baby. She's all growed up now.(Yup I said growed, that was not a typo.) So in this new chapter in her life she has to furnish this new apartment and so a shopping we will go.......duty calls but the confusing part is how I left with $500.00 worth of stuff for my house? She is basically starting from scratch, I have two living room chairs and a dinette table for her but that's about it. So when I say we are starting from scratch believe those words. I took a few pictures from our adventure this past Saturday and let me just say it was a long ass day in IKEA.

The winner is ME!

“The most creative interpretation is this dress by that black chic, I love the fact that it’s upcycled and that she kept the button placket and some of the seaming from the original denim dress she cut the top out of.” Kati of Kate & Rose - Full Monthly Stitch story HERE

I shared my story with you about my relationship with this dress called Giselle and let me say that I am thrilled that she won, I mean I won! I adore the vibe this dress gives, I get a Urban, Bohemian, Hippie Chic kinda feeling. Is that possible? (inside voice says:All things are possible and that's what  you said damit!) This dress is all those things and one more word I want to add is it's just plain old FUN! Thanks Kati for appreciating my take on your dress.

Pumpkins ain't just for Halloween.

I personally like my pumpkin in a pie mmmm, mmmm good! If you opted to put your pumpkin on display you ain't all by yourself. Each year I say I'm going to take my kids to pick some pumpkins and then I am either going to carve them or decorate them but that never seems to happen. Maybe one day, maybe this year or the next? Who knows but what I do know is that I located some prime examples of why I should make it happen sooner than later.

Blog Hop...Hip Hop Hooray, Hooooo,Heyyyy, Hoooo!

Sue of Fadanista  caught up with me to participate in the blog hop, cool invite. I accept  the challenge and thanks a bunch Sue!

1.Why do I write?

Hmmm, I'm not sure you can really call it all writing on my blog but for the sake of these questions we will. I started writing on my blog because it was about dang time! I have always been interested in blogging but I was always afraid, afraid that I wouldn't be any good at this blogging thing. I like to talk about what I know and lately it's been about DIY's. I like sharing how to make fabulous things with others. I try to put a spin on the way I tell a story to my readers because I want them to laugh, learn and come back...often...I mean really often.

2. How is your blog different to others of the same genre?

There are a lot of bloggers out there blogging about DIY's, sewing, fashion and crafts and those are some of the main things that are on my blog. I look at the other blogs to be inspired and to educate myself. I have been learning the things that I should do and some things that I should not do. An artist at heart I'm on the top of my game when it comes to visual simulations, meaning that I am a serial picture taker and I proudly wear that badge on my chest! I try to push the boundaries in my creations, you know to give people something to talk about. I can only hope that I am more interesting than the others with the things that I create and my photography skills. Also, I like to share things, if I find something created by someone else I'll share that too. If I complete a DIY that is not my own I tell my readers exactly where I got my ideal/DIY from so it's not always about me....I mean most times it is but not always! But back to the question, is my blog different? You tell me.

3. What are you working on right now?

Too many things! Seriously, I just finished this awesome 70's maxi dress and I have a dress to cut out in three different sizes for the monthly stitch that I'm aiming to get done before Oct 31st. I have a new purse that I'm trying to put together as well. Oh yeah and my daughter is moving out of my house.....Whoot! Whoot!  so we are about to get down to do some serious furniture shopping in the next few weeks. I have two chairs in the garage to reupholster for her so, there will also be some Interior design projects in my horizon....and I'm also fixing up my basement for my sewing area....Ummm......I think that's about it right now.

4. What is your writing process?

Don't have one! Well maybe I do, I try to come up with a catchy title for my posts and I love to play with words that are so on the verge questionable taste that you just have to see what it's about. Everything after that is on the fly.

Whew, now that I'm done with that I want to share two bloggers that I found and are so inspiring for different reasons. The first blogger speaks to the Artist in me. That would be the one and only Cassie Stephens She is a Art teacher and not only is her work awesome she makes these spectacular outfits to boot. She loves felting and she makes me wanna try it when I get a second me to start that project.  And the reason that I started sewing again was because of Mimi G  She makes the most awesome clothing and watching her videos, reading her blog took me back to when I used to sew, I went out and bought a new machine dusted off my old ones and began creating again. She is so inspirational it's crazy!

SGBC: September Book Party-When Morning Comes By Francis Ray

This book was chosen by book-club member Capucine for September. I often ask her how she picks her books and for some reason she can never answer that question. I say that to say when I saw this cover, I didn't know what I was in for with this book. If you really know me, you know that I am a visual person so if the cover isn't appealing then it's a no-go, I ain't buying the book. This is a struggle within myself that I am working on and I must say over the years I have gotten better.  So due to time constraints I opted to buy the audio for this book.

My review on this book starts like this. It was a cute story and everyone had the happy ending that you expected. There were no big surprises and most of the story was predictable. I would recommend this book if you have some spare time and wanted to read something nice.

We had a great meeting as always and Capucine's theme was a  "BREAST CANCER REMINDER" to get ourselves checked!
Book-Party favor: Book references refer to either a character, occupation verse or something in direct relation to the book. Can you guess or do you know?

High School Football is driving me crazy!!

So as I sit and watch the game as my son, number 76 along with 28 other fully dressed players stand along the sideline, wondering will he get a chance to play today? Probably not, probably not and as the game ends and they are still standing there is the clean uniforms I say, not this game, maybe the next game...........
