DIY: The Great Cape.....no I'm not a super hero, I just want to look like one!

I made this cape as part of the Monthly Stitch. (10 & 11 out of 20 patterns)  I used NewLook 6152 for this cape and a version of Simplicity 1699 for the pants. If you follow me you know that most of my sewing is for my daughter Mori, when she saw this she was like I really like that fabric. I said hold that thought .......this one is for me. When I told her I was making pants in the same fabric , she said, "umm that's a little too much, don't you think?" I think I kinda rolled my eyes when she said that and I said "go big or go home." The Cape and pants done and I dare say it's not too much cause I'ma Boss!

Cape:NewLook 6152
The pros: This pattern was super easy.
The cons: I opted not to sew the bottom together per the instructions, I was concerned about the lining  not laying flat with the rest of the cape. It was a beast to get that lining not to show. I decided to tack my lining to the seams, which was not part of the instructions.

Pants:Simplicity 1699
The pros: It's all gravy, easy peasy!
The Cons: Nada! Zilch!

Here is my super cool lining! I wanted to have fun with the inside and I think I achieved that and then some. Look at me tooting my own horn....Toot Toot!

I whipped up a simple pair of pants to match this cape. The pants are super long because I made them to wear with heels and I only wanted to see the points of my shoes sticking out when I am wearing these. When I started with the photos I remembered that I had a pink pair of pumps that would look great in the photos. With that being  said I was literally walking on the pants because my pink pumps were only a 1 1/2 inch heel. I say that to say this, I know the pants are to long in these photos!
