Sew What? Simplicity 1421 Sew-A-Long Blazer....That's What!

Well here it is Peeps! My Sew-A-Long Blazer
Pattern: Simplicity 1421

I fell in love with this fabric from Michael Levine's Fabrics[HERE] in a Instagram picture  posted by @mingoandgrace. She made a cute jacket and I was like, "I need this fabric in my life!" I ordered the fabric that same day and the rest is history......Well not really because I did not make myself a blazer, I made one for Mori. For those of you who are following me, you will know who that is and for those of you who are new to That Black Chic, Mori is my daughter, the face of That Black Chic.

The Blazer was made as part of my first ever Sew-A-Long, which was documented here on the blog. That was nerve-racking but lots of fun as well. The blazer was super easy and this was the second time I used this pattern. This is a project that can be completed in two days time or if you want to add a glass of wine  to the mix, it can take as long you want it to take. The high-waisted pants and the short-shorts were self drafted pieces and those shoes are from a recently posted DIY. If you're ever interested in a sew-along let me know, leave me a comment and I may be able to make it happen!

    1. Thanks so much, this was a unexpected hit. Yes I can make this blazer but I'm not sure if I have enough of that fabric on hand. e-mail me at thatblackchic@gmail.com and I can let you know the pricing for this blazer and we can go form there.

  23. Thanks to YOU, I WILL be purchasing this pattern. Simplicity needs to be paying you fees for advertising this pattern because truth be told from their cover I NEVER would have considered adding it to my stash. A woman on a FB page shared links to That Black Chick and I am loving it! Clapping wildly at you and what you do. The daughter, M, is gorgeous (she has got to know that).

This fabric is colour on steriods. It gives me an eyegasm everytime I come online to look at it. Ain't no shame in my game; I would like to repro this blazer and yeah, if I pull it off (as in can ever afford the fabric) all credit goes to YOU. I will link from my blog to your post of this. Bless you and thank you for being so open with your creations with us in the blogosphere.

    Cheers,

    Lyric

    1. Oh my goodness I just heard a lot of awesome things here! Oh and just let me say that Simplicity owes me a little something-something for this sew-along and all the publicity I gave that pattern. Like you the package does nothing to entice a person to purchase and I'm really not sure why I bought it other than it was $1.00. I would love to see you make this blazer and if you use the link form my blog I get a little on the back-end! Happy sewing!

  26. Just used this pattern in a very different way using fabric I brought back from The Gambia West Africa. Navy and cream swirly leaves appliqued and quilted with wadding, edge to edge. Love your fabric and work a lot with vibrant african fabric raising funds for charity, Just Act Gambia.
