DIY Flower Halter Top:Round 1 [Cult Gaia: Rachel Camellia Top]

[Mori wearing my version of Cult Gaia's Rachel Camellia Top]
Whilst scrolling through Instagram Mori came across this top worn by "Color Me Courtney" and Ariana Grande. I fell in love with this top and felt as though I could make a version of this top.
Now I want you to take notice of the bust sizes here. If you Google this top most of the pics will show model with small boobs and Courtney is the only one that I've come across with larger boobs. So it's safe to say when they designed this top they had smaller boobs in mind.
[Neiman Marcus $328]
So as I started making out my petal patterns, I was like this will be a breeze.........well when you factor in boobs, bellies and curves, that is where problems start. You have to be able to curve around all these things while maintaining the flower shape when it's on, not to mention it really needs to lay flat on the body to keep the flower shape while worn.

This was way more work than I thought it would be! This version was my first attempt and although I put it together to resemble a flower while covering her up, there was a lot of edits going on. I took notes for the next attempt, which should not require as many edits. I didn't take pics of the process, it was just too messy! But the top is done and it's wearable!

I think the fabric matters, they used linen for this top, but I used a quilting cotton, so my fabric wasn't as sturdy as the linen. I cut out my second version is a thicker Ankara print, we'll see how that goes. After I figure everything out with this pattern, I will share my final pattern and all the details. Thanks for listening!!
