This is how it all started on a Sunday morning, me a hot cup of tea, fabric and a pattern! My daughter Mori picked out this fabric on one of our IKEA outings. She said she could see a short sleeve dress with roll up sleeves and a puffy bottom. She went on to say she would add a cute cardigan to complete the look.
I bought the fabric and of course it was sitting in my sewing room for a minute and I picked out this Leanne Marshall pattern from my Simplicity pattern stash and I knew this would do the trick. What I did not realize at the moment was that my owl cup would play a roll in this adventure! How you say? Well when I looked for buttons for the sleeves I found these owl buttons I had in my stash. When we went to take pictures I had this beautiful owl necklace that my sister gave me and thus it competed the look! Owls are in the house! Whoooo, Whooooo!
Pattern Description: Leanne Marshall Dress
Pattern Sizing: 4-12 I cut pout size 10
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Amazingly yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
Fabric Used: Cotton Blend [I'm pretty sure this fabric is for upholstery] but it's not super thick it has a nice weight.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None, I created the dress per their instructions to the T.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I will sew this again and absolutely I would recommend this to everyone. It may be just a tad bit tricky for a beginner but it can be done, the collar area would probably be the most challenging part on this construction.
Conclusion: I love this little dress and Mori loves it so it's a win, win situation.
