[Made for and modeled by my daughter Mori]
Hello Peeps! I am super excited about this make and I am calling it my "POT LUCK" dress because I took all the African Wax prints in my stash that had similar colors to color block this dress. I will admit this dress is LOUD as hell and I love it. I don't think Mori was super thrilled with this one but it looked fabulous on her. Sometimes I win and sometimes not! I was excited about this pattern because one, it was super easy and two, I knew that with my fabrics it could be awesome. This is a dress that can be made in a day, honestly it's that easy. The pattern: Butterick B6088 If you're new to sewing this is s great pattern and if you're experienced it's still a great pattern because you can do so much with it.
I was able to secure links to some of the prints I used. This fabric is not thick and would be great for a lined Spring/Summer dress or quilting. Fabrics: Skirt Front, Sleeve Top and the Belt. These are the fabrics I purchased from Michael Levine. A few other prints in my stash that would work well for this dress: Navy & Orange Geo shapes and Navy & Orange X's. Check out The Zipper Shipper for your 30 inch zipper needs.....if you have booty problems.
Those red shoes tho!
I love it Michelle!!!

Aaaayoooo Shari! Thanks lady I got a thang for mixing and mix-matching that I just can't let go! Yeah Mori was a trooper for these pics,
DeleteAbsolutely, gorgeous, ingenious the way you put these colors together, an the sleeves love them, and most of all those shoes. Your daughter style it so well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon, those shoes are nice, she wants me to find another model though and then she thought about the shoes that I buy her for these shoots and said she will do it for a little while longer! Kids, gotta love them.
DeleteI love this dress. You inspire me. I laugh whenever I see the picture on the side of your blog of the two shirt dresses. I have the pattern for the one your daughter is wearing. I was going to make it in white, I can't now although I love a white blouse, you have changed my mind.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I am here to inspire you! Girl you can make two shirts one white and one a print! Problem solved.
DeleteIts loud but beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThere are people like me who learn how to sew and dream we had half the God given talent of people like you with the ability to take something simple and turn it into something extraordinary. Love your work and envy you (in a good way).
ReplyDeleteThat was super sweet! Josephine if you throw caution to the wind a little you could easily create something like this yourself. Thanks so much for your kind words!
DeleteThe drama in those sleeves. Yessss! I'm totally here for it!
ReplyDeleteYeah Buddy!
DeleteThat dress is soooooo gorgeous!!! And your daughter is beautiful! Dress fits perfectly and looks stunning on her. I love it. Your designs are so inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteCathy thank you!
DeleteFabulous and so eye catching! By the way, whenever I get the 'Booty Issue' with zips on close fitting dresses and skirts, I consider buying a zip that will reach all the way from kneck-line to back vent (slit in the skirt). I see many designers like Roland Mouret do this on some of their dresses. You will find a great variety of zip styles can be used, two-way zips, open ended, closed ended, metal or plastic teeth, chunky or fine.
ReplyDeleteHey Diane in London, I can totally hear your accent while reading your comment! I am on the hunt for some new and interesting zippers!
DeletePerfection!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love it... I don't SEW.... so can you make me one......

Those sleeves are delicious, and the pockets are perfect. I'm new to your blog but am now a devoted fan. This is just terrific, fabulous, beautiful, wonderful, and awe inspiring. Thank you for posting it!!!
