Who needs a little black dress when you could have this? My client cam to me with this beautiful inspiration picture of a black on black skirt and blouse made by tscouture. I made a similar set with a twist. The skirt bottom is a bubble bottom with a tulle filling inside. This was my first time making a bubble bottom skirt and my client wasn't too sure about it but rolled with it. What I do know is that you need to wear a petticoat under this skirt to keep the bubble wide and beautiful.
This was totally a self drafted make and I think it was a good effort for my first time making this type of skirt. There are a few things I would do differently with the extra-wide waistband and the bubble. I do plan on creating another bubble skirt and I can definitely see this in an African print. The big ass fabric flower was a first time project as well and I will be making a tutorial soon.
[pardon the pleats because I did not iron them for the pictures......I know, I know, just let this one go, it's not wrinkled!]
Here is the outfit in action! She looks fabulous. [I wish I was at her photo shoot so I could have fluffed out the skirt before they took the pictures for more drama.]
Hi Michelle this is really cool! Well done. I would love to see what you do with it in African print. Thanks for inspiring me.
ReplyDeleteStay tuned for that!!
DeleteWow! That is just amazing. You totally inspire me!
ReplyDeleteThank you sew much!

ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteBeautiful! I like the dolman sleeves with it since the dress already has plenty going on I think the seamless sleeves work much better , less stuff going on. And also great idea making a large waist band Accentuating the waist I think also is important to balance out the big skirt and a belt would have been too fussy! This was a complex idea but you did all the right things and it looks fiiiine!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Seems like we both have good taste!
DeleteGorgeous and unique! Thanks for including a pic of your client! It's always good to see the dress on the person!
