Happy 4th of July, I ain't got red and white but I got the blue denim for ya. So this is my third off the shoulder top and I think my last. The shoulders are hot this season and you're seeing them everywhere as tops, dresses, rompers and jumpsuits. I had planned on using chambray for a top until I saw a picture that
Shun D. posted on Instagram a few weeks back. I knew I had to get my denim in order to make one of these tops. I did not want to use a heavy denim since it's summer-time but I also did not want to use a denim that had a stretch to it. Since this top has a frayed edge a Stretch denim would not work. I found a happy medium weight denim that was already in my stash from Joann's.
Now let's talk about the fraying that was about to go down. Now if ya know me ya know that I'm all extra with my stuff. I cut fringes in my denim and washed it, then threw it into the dryer and this is what happened! To make my pencil skirt I just sewed the seams to be exposed on the right side of the skirt and I washed that and threw it in the dryer as well. With all the seams frayed and exposed it gives this skirt a unique distressed look, making this an absolutely fabulous outfit. I'm warning you now, this is a hem-free zone!
Really tho, you call this a wink???
love all the fraying action happening in this outfit!!!

DeleteI know how much you love denim, but this is by far your best denim effort ever (imho). Did the fringes on the top just automatically spiral, or did you employan added special treatment to get them to do that???
ReplyDeleteThanks Faye, the denim curled on it's on in the dryer.
