A Vision in Black Roses [Sew What? Series Floral Jumpsuit Hack]

Yup people this jumpsuit is so fierce I had to pat my own back and post it a second time with a new background of course. My original post was for Fabric Mart, and the photographs were taken at a lovely little flower shop in my area called Penny's in Glenside PA. Those lovely photographs can be seen HERE. This Rose print fabric was a fabulous find if I do say so myself..........[there goes that self praise thing again] But I am so sorry to say, the fabric is all GONE!! This is a 100% Poly Ripstop suiting fabric that sold-out after my post went live. I did find some alternatives but the fabric is 70% right now and I figure by the time you read this my choices would be long gone!

I want to tell ya'll when you are shopping on the Fabric Mart website, make sure you click on the larger images of the prints you like. A lot of people missed out on this print. It was not that fabulous when you looked at the little image but when you clicked the images you ZOOMED in and it was like OMG! The print was much larger than it appeared on the little picture. I grabbed 5 yards quickly!!

So let's talk about my hack for this jumpsuit. I used the top view C and the short pattern. The reason I used these patterns was because I had put together a romper last year which I created it using these pieces.  I knew that the fit in the torso was on point and I would not have any fit issues. Otherwise I would have used one of my jumpsuit patterns on deck. This jumpsuit is so basic that it really let's the fabric be the star of the show.

I took a few close up shots for the collar and the belt made from the same fabric because they are almost invisible in the photographs. In person you can see them in all their glory but they still blend in with the busy  print. I love the extra long legs on this jumpsuit and it hugs Mori's curves just right. I'm feeling like this is going to be one of my all-time favorites right here.

  1. This jumpsuit is kickin'! I love everything that you make - so bold and fun! Thanks for the inspiration of combining the 1873 top with shorts. I might have to try that with my Winslow Culottes... :-)

  9. Oh My Michelle, I must say you did out do yourself! This jumpsuit is the life for sure! Your baby looks absolutely stunning in this jumpsuit and like everything else you make, it fits her like a glove! Question...how does Mori like it? (I know sometimes she doesn't share your enthusiasm, LOL!)
