It was <3 at first site when I saw
this fabric, although I had no idea of what to do with it, I still wanted it.
I bought two yards in the hopes that I would find a project for this fabric.
Then my daughter Mori moved out and I gifted her these chairs from the garage
that needed a little TLC. Her living room was a Grey so I knew that I would
cover one of the chairs with this fabric but I had to go buy three more yards.
If you've been following the blog or my Instagram you know I finished the other
chair with the bold black, white and green fabrics. That chair went fabulous so
when I started this chair I thought I would be able to beast right through this
one……WRONG! I had so much trouble with this chair that if it was mine I would
have stopped and put it back in the garage. I had to cut and re-cut fabric, my
staple gun was acting all funky, my glue gun is dead and for the life of me I
still can’t figure out why I had such a hard time with this second chair. Well
I finished this damn chair and she better love this one the most! I can’t wait
to get this thing outta my house! Now my feelings towards this chair does not
take away from the fact that it is stunning, I’m just sayin’.

I took off this piping so it would not be so
bulky when I put the fabric over this area.
I made these pieces to cover the joint
where the fabric does not meet.
Nice cover up
I must have dropped this gun four times.
The heat started melting the gun
This happened the last time I dropped it,
It won't even hold the glue stick anymore!
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue! Stop by again!
DeleteBeautiful! How fun! I have an old chair I want to recover, I'm not sure with what yet...I was sort of thinking of using eyeglasses fabric :P :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Eyeglasses would be super fun! I have found eyeglasses fabric prints on fabric.com but it's too thin for reupholstering a chair. Let me know if you do, I'd love to see it!
DeleteLove love love love LOVE!,,, I have tired chair waiting to be covered..... So WHERE DID YOU GET THAT FABRiC?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteOK, this will be our little secret...I got that fabric from IKEA..don't tell nobody else cause then we'll all have the same chairs! Thanks Rachel.
DeleteGirl you are just too talented. This is another great project. I love the fabric it's sooo unique.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you once again and I agree this fabric it pure awesomeness.
DeleteGreat transformation! Thanks for sharing at Totally Terrific Tuesday. Be sure to stop by again this week...the party is going on now!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 chairs that I want to reupholster. I was going to completely strip the chairs but I like how you covered the chairs here. When would recommend just covering the existing fabric vs stripping the chair down?
ReplyDeleteFor me it depends on the chair and If I really have the time to take off all the old fabric. It also depends on the fabric you're using verses the fabric on the chair....Soooooooooo if you can cover it up nicely then just cover it up but remember you have to staple through all the layers of fabrics on the chair. Let me know what you choose and see your finished chair.
